What if Blinding REALLY did blind you?
Guildwiki's definition...
"Condition. While suffering from this ailment, your melee and missile attacks have a 90% chance to "miss." Your projectiles also have a greater chance to stray from their intended target."
....I've played for a while now, and I've never really been happy with the blind effect! It's obviously meant to prevent or reduce your ability to see. But it has no actual effect on your ability to see.
What if (while suffering blindess) you actually went slightly or completely blind?
We already have drunk effects, that obscure the picture on screen and make you unable to see properly or focus. We also have that same effect in different colours depending on the drink you use.
Why not have blind use the same or similar effect as level.
If your struck for blindess, the screen instantly goes obscured and its very hard to focus on people and objects. Then once blindness ends, it fades away.
At the minute "blind" doesnt really blind you! Your effectly just unable to hit with attacks, but you can still see!
Make blind, actually fully or partilly blind you using a similar effect to being max level drunk.

Making the screen go dark would be a real no no,however the one thing that could be added is controls are mixed up, so when you press to go left you would go left etc.
But i don't really want this, I'm fine with what it is, just saying the only way i think it could/should be done.

Yea and
Burning could cover the screen in flame effect
Bleeding could make red liquid start to run down the screen
Dazed can make the sound ingame seem distant like your half defened
Then for most of the time we can't see what we're playing
Ofcourse theres an options setup that doesn't give you the drunk effect so this wouldn't be exploitable or force people to play on low settings at all

.... no.
If you blind someone, they effectively can't see anything, and thus cannot see people to target/click skills/etc.
That would mean, if you blinded a caster, they would be useless too! I don't think that's right.
People would also abuse this. "Hey, let's piss off that caster and keep him blind for the rest of the match while we kill his teammates!"
That, too, does not sound right when you think about it. If you are playing 3rd person, and your character is blind, then how come we can't see either? Our character is blind, not us!

I'm on about blinding though.... something that technically doesnt blind you.
If you are set on fire, you burn.
If you are dazed you stagger a bit.
If your crippled you cant woke very fast.
If your slowed down you actually slow down.
But if your blinded, you see no animation or effecT!

You can see the drunk effect when your character is drunk, so how does that make sense by your logic?
What difference does it make if players decide "right, we're going to blind this character all game", and that players interface gets blacked out or their character cant target!
Arent both just as frustrating as the other?
I've just never liked how there is no animation, or real feedback for being blinded. Other hexes or effects you can notice due to some kind of animation.
Blindess happens and stops so fast you dont always notice.

A little thing called balance comes into play here. You would just have 2 people using blinding Flash on monks. It isn't a good a idea and won't happen.
Oh yeah /unsigned

If it were a different type of game I'd say yes. Counter Strike has stuff like flash bombs which basically makes your screen go white for a few seconds, which is a great addition for that kind of game.
But in that game, you're only one kind of player. You know people are shooting at you, so if you're blinded you retreat and hope you've memorised the map well enough to get out of harms way until you can see again.
With GW, there are simply too many different professions who do too many different things. In an FPS where this effect is usually used, it's generally a free for all, and while other team mates rely on you, ultimately it's about YOU personally winning the glory. GW is all about team. If one of the team is rendered useless it unbalances the entire game.
I like your idea in theory, but it practice it's /unsigned.

I like the idea in practice, but again, it'd be a monk shutdown. It's already nasty enough as a warrior to get blinding surge on you, much less to have your screen rendered useless.

Although a dozen people have already responded the same way, I too have to say this is a bad idea. We the player are third parties to our characters, at least when we are zoomed out. Maybe, and it's a slim maybe, your screen could go dim if you zoom in 100%. Otherwise, it's pretty inconsistent to the rest of the game and is unnecessary.

Its one of those situations of realism vs gameplay. In this situation, realism would hurt the gameplay in my opinion. Would be interesting, but annoying after the initial "neat".
